Hey, It’s Me: Navigating Awkward Reunions

You know, as I’ve been excavating more memories from my past, I’ve become incredibly clear on the types of connections I want to bring forward into my life with me. There’s something about the people we had met in our formative years when we’re most unguarded and free to be ourselves — some old friends are just literal treasures. Sometimes I think about what I’d say to those lost contacts, people whom I haven’t spoken to in forever, and how to bridge that gap. So much awkwardness as I don’t know how I will be received.

But maybe just a simple, “Hey! It’s me. Been thinking about you and wondering how you’ve been” without attachments to outcome might suffice? Idk. It’s so nerve wracking!! Also, what medium to pick? What’s considered personal these days? Social media? Email? Actually, now that I think about it, I had reconnected with a few folks from my past recently on Instagram and it was quite nice and easy to. Surprisingly, everyone was so incredibly sweet about it too!!

Btw does any else have an issue with Gmail where it’s like an inbox just for spam and ads now? I hadn’t checked my email in a while and came back to over 11,000~ unread mails, mostly advertisements and spam lol. Aside from an email that I had sent my meditation teacher recently, not a lot of personal-ness to it anymore. I’ve been spending more time deleting email campaigns from companies than I do actually corresponding with others. I think I need a new inbox or another email. This one’s turned into junk. What a friggin nightmare lmao! 😂
