Come What May

The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.

So I randomly decided to watch this movie again recently because I felt it calling to me as it kept popping into my mind. It’s been such a looooooong time since I had last seen it. While I did not remember buying it digitally, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the movie was just sitting there at the top of my list of Prime digital videos. I only remember owning the hard copy DVD and blu-ray versions, so that was strange! I wonder how it ended up there 🤔? If the Universe wants to treat me to some free movies I’m *totally* down for it lol. Bring it! Don’t wait for me to write another Dear Universe for this though. Let us save some time, I’ll write it right here — treat me to Babygirl next? 😏

Anyway, this movie used to be one of my absolute favs!!! I loved it so much I even got the OST too! I forced my parents to listen to it whenever we were in the car. I hope that didn’t drive them crazy 🤣

I do love my musicals and this movie really hits all the right notes for me. I love how it’s a bit outrageous and silly, but the messaging around true love, falling in love, and following our hearts continuously touches my heart and soul 🥰

Elephant Love Medley, Your Song, and Come What May are my favorite songs from the movie. I was mesmerized with how much Christian loved Satine and couldn’t contain himself from feeling and expressing all of that love. The joy that’d just burst out from him! Sometimes I can really relate to his character — so wondrously passionate and oh so romantic! And watching Satine fall in love with Christian, even against everything she thought to be true for her, was so incredibly heartwarming!

Is it silly to love in such a way? So purely, so genuinely, so devotedly.

Truth

Beauty

Freedom

Love

Sometimes I wonder if modern day “love” has forgotten that true love encompasses more than just physical love — that there are mental, emotional, spiritual, intellectual connections as well. And when you have all of them together, combined with the physical, that will elevate the experience so much more. Reducing love to just the physical aspect might be… missing out on something beautiful and deeply transformative. But then again, maybe this type of love isn’t what everyone might be looking for? 🤔 I hope not though as that level of depth of connection is truly remarkable to experience… perhaps even transcendent.

Anyway, I’ve watched this movie SO many times back then that I knew the exact spot to stop the movie, right before the last part where the story gets super sad, in order to give the movie the happy ending that I wanted them to have lol.

This movie continues to be one of my favorite musical movies of all time.

Come what may~ ❤️❤️❤️❤️
