Words For the Courageous Soul

Today, I’d like to offer a word of encouragement to those who have been sticking around this blog and doing the hard inner work.

I’ve made around 80 posts by now and if you’ve been following along and haven’t run away screaming yet, then that’s amazing and quite an accomplishment. This means you’re someone who’s courageous enough to face the vulnerable parts within you that most people would shy away from. My content, while funny and unhinged at times, can also be very challenging to stomach as there are topics I cover that bring a direct mirror to the unhealed parts of ourselves, which we often don’t like to think about. So, if you’ve stuck around and haven’t dismissed this content in some way shape or form, I just wanted to acknowledge you for your courage and fortitude. You are in the select few. I have a feeling if you continue going down this road, your future self will profusely thank you for it.

Shadow work is not for the faint of heart. It requires us to really take a look at our minds with a fine tooth comb. This means we are open to being wrong, vulnerable, and changing our ways. Protective systems and mechanisms that we had naturally put into place need to be analyzed and systematically dismantled to be created anew as new systems that actually work for us now. Not many people are willing to do this hard inner work, to dive deep into their own darkness and confront the unknowns that’s there, as it requires a ton of effort and the willingness to be completely vulnerable. So, if you’re someone who’s been reading my content, self reflecting, using my content as a tool to examine your own beliefs, protective mechanisms, etc., then you’re incredibly brave and capable. This needs to be acknowledged.

Regarding timing and the desire for healing, I’ve actually had chats with friends where we’ve felt discouraged when healing takes so long. But let’s think about it — if it took years and decades to develop self protective mechanisms that have kept us safe but guarded, wouldn’t it need to take some time to dismantle? It’s definitely not going to be an overnight phenomenon. Even with my own dismantling of low self worth filter protective mechanisms, that stuff still comes up from time to time. I have just become better at noticing when it does and not giving it too much power. Our nervous systems will also need adequate time to adjust and regulate as well. If you’re someone who’s doing all of this hard inner work, diving deep, facing your demons, and feeling frustrated with how long it’s taking, that’s totally understandable. It would be really nice that we can just be healed instantly and not have to worry about things anymore but that’s just not realistic, as healing generally works in a spiral — it’ll come and go and each time we get another chance to do better and heal some more. So please remember that if things continue to come up, that’s okay, just continue working through them, and improvements will naturally come at some point. Mastery comes from practice. You’ll get there.

Anyway, I just want to say thank you for hanging in there and doing something that majority of people would never attempt to do. The amount of courage, bravery, diligence, conscientiousness, etc. required to do this type of shadow work is a LOT to ask of us and if you’re still working on it, good freaking job! Be kind to yourself, be gentle and patient with yourself, and have faith that everything will work out in perfect timing. You are eternally loved and the world will be extremely lucky to receive the fruits of your labor.

While this type of healing can be a lonely road, as it’s something that only we can do for ourselves, just know that this chaos baby is patiently cheering you on. I see you, I respect you, and I am here for you. Hang in there and also know that you’re doing just fine, you lovely person ❤️

P.S. I just had a random thought — isn’t it interesting that Seoul kinda sounds like Soul!? 🤔
